Hello Ladies

My name is Sonya,

I have found that the Lord has been bringing me in contact with women of every age, race, and religious background, all seeking the same thing; to find a closer relationship with God, and wanting a more balanced life.

The ministry that I have started is called:

"Women Ministering For Christ - Empowering Other Women"

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Welcome! Feel Free To Join Me On My Mission

Whatever happened to the days when women were looked upon as trustworthy and reliable mothers of Zion, that pray for families and help their neighbors when they are down and in need.

Women, who stand by their families, visit the sick. Older women, who instructed younger ones on the important things of life, and how to deal with the many challenge that come with time and circumstances.

I am inviting mothers, daughters, sisters, grand-mamas, aunts, and friends to join me as we begin a journey in the Lord, seeking His face and His direction in our lives. As Ruth said to Naomi in Ruth 2:16, "Wherever you go I will go; your people shall be my people and your God my God."

Yours in the ministry of Jesus Christ our Lord.

  2. Hello there my friends. I just got back from Jamaica last week as a team of us went there for a mission trip. We had teaching seminars during the days and preaching and ministering in the nights. Followed with one- on- one councelling sessions. What a joy it was working with our friends from Cross Roads Church of God, Chapelton Jamaica. I just praise God for the opportinity to be able to do His work in this manner.
Special thanks to Pastors Hank and Kathy Kanters as well as my dear husband Peter for all their help to make this possible. Also a big thank you goes out to Mother and daddy Richards for their warm hospitality and love while we stayed at their home in Jamaica.
I just have to mention the names of some very special young people that we can't wait to see again, Jeffery, Guyan, Nasair, Sanya, Ruth Ann,,, to name a few.
Deacon Levy and his wonderful wife, deacon Chin and all the brethern and friends at the church. Thank you so much.
I met a kindred spirit in Karen, we'll do a lot more work together I am sure.

God's grace and blessings be on you all and thanks for all the prayers.

  6. Thank you so much Aunderia for your great support even more when I was away in Jamaica. God gave me His word in 3 John 1, "Beloved I desire for you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers" God desires us to be well mind, body and spirit so we can do His work, helping others to be well in all areas of their lives. So with that we'll continue to do His work, blessing the lives of those He brings into our daily walk of life.

  9. This is a THANK YOU note from one of the young men that we ministered to in Jamacia. His name is Jeffery, God will use this young in a great way.

    SPECIAL THANK YOU NOTES

"On behalf of the Committee, Youth Associates and other members of the Church of God in Cross Roads, Jamaica, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation for your wonderful teachings and the various biblical and psychological topics over the past days. We would just like to thank you firstly for your patient, consistency and your wonderful commitment in teaching us how to apply biblical and psychological perception to our lives.
What was inexplicable on various biblical and psychological topics for other authorities in the biblical and psychological field, it was very explicit when you taught it. We comprehended majority of the information that you taught on the various topics. We appreciated every minute that you spent teaching us. All the information that we received were very consequential, superior, pertinent and applicable in helping us to grow spiritually in God’s words.
We have gained knowledgeable insight on the various symbols that were escalating their pernicious and detrimental ways in our country and others. By the forces of discourteous people, we were unaware of their meanings and what they represented. We thank God for your intervention because you explored every area of their meaning and their representation. Now we are aware of them and it will not be an impediment for us to identify any symbols that represent demonic forces.
You people were so illustrious, extravert, distinguished, incomparable, extraordinaire, fabulous scholars and dignitaries, and during your absence; we will be so desirous for your irresistible knowledge over the next months. But we will be praying that when you return from other neighboring countries, you will instantaneously return back to Jamaica to share more information with us.
We are also praying for God’s continual blessing upon your lives as you continue to visit other countries to share His words to the captive and broken hearted.
Your time spent here will be a memorable moment for all of us. There isn’t any lamented or poignant moment that we did spend as we listened attentively to you. I hope you all continue to do God’s work, and we are looking forward to meeting you people some other time, if some of us are still breathing God’s breath that He has lent to us.
Thank you so very much for your kind co-operation and your time."

    "Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge Him.
As surely as the sun rises,
    he will appear;
He will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

  15. I looked into the meaning of the word TRUST, and I came upon these 5 points in one area:
    1. Have confidence or faith in
    2. Allow without fear
    3. Be confident about something
    4. Expect and wish
    5. Confer a trust upon
I was meditating on Proverbs 3:5-6 this morning and as I ponder the word trust, it says to trust in, be confident in the Lord God, do not depend totally on yourself.
Isn't it wonderful to know that we have someone that is there for us to lean on, when we are not sure of what to do in certain situation, or someone that promises to never leave or forsake us?
I just get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that God is always watching over me, taking care of the things that matter the most to me. I talk to Him knowing that what I need to say is heard and he cares.
Because of that, I fully trust Him with everything in my life. So my friends I encourage you, “In ALL thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy path”
    Have a glorious day

    Sonya

  16. Hey Mama,
With relevance to your post pertaining to trust, the idea of complete trust isn’t always the easiest concept to apprehend. I say this for various reasons. 2010 was a terrible year for me personally; it felt like anything that could have gone wrong did. As a result of this I stared to develop a great deal of disbelief and doubt. The only things that assisted me through this year were the support from you and Mandi, along with your continued encouragement to not give up on God. I just wanted to say thank you for always being there for me, I love you.
Isaiah 41:10 is a verse that I feel meshes well with the trust and reassurance theme.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

  19. Hi Son, I have proven God over and over again to bring me through the most difficult and trying circumstances in my life. There have been times when I did not make it easy for Him because I did not always walk according to His will and His command, but as I became aware of the fact that I needed to trust him, He not only brought me through but He also opened my eyes to the fact that trusting him always and not jumping ahead of Him will take me to a better place.
I am glad to know that you have not given up or stopped leaning on Him, keep on trusting, He is going to amaze you.

    Love you,

    Mama

  20. As the song writer puts it, "Great is thy faithfullness oh God my Father, there's no shadow of turning with thee, thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not, as thou hast been thou forever wilt be....morning by morning new mercies I see, ALL that I need thy hands hath provided, great is thy faithfullness Lord unto me". 21. My friends, I'd like you to join me as I sing this song "His eye is on the sparrow",this morning I am interceeding for quite a few of my friends and just want to reassure them that God is very near in the time of trouble.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

    "Why should I feel discouraged
    Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart be lonely
    And long for heavenly home
    When Jesus is my portion?
    My constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me

    I sing because I’m happy
    I sing because I’m free
For His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me

Let not your heart be troubled”
    His tender word I hear
    And resting on His goodness
I loose my doubts and fears
Tho’ by the path He leadeth
But one step I may see
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me

    Whenever I am tempted
    Whenever clouds arise
When song gives place to sighing
    When hope within me dies
I draw the closer to Him
For care He sets me free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me"

  22. Psalm 97 is by far one of my favorite places in the Bible. This Psalm clarifies for me the magnitude of the God I serve. He’s mighty, He’s Holy, and He’s majestic, powerful and so amazing. “Clouds and darkness are round about Him; righteousness and judgment are the habitation of His throne”.
Friends, the Psalm says in verse 3, “A fire goes before Him, and burneth up His enemies round about Him”. Since He’s my God, that means the same thing happens to my enemies. Since He dwells within me, that same fire goes before me. Hallelujah!!!
“The Lord reigneth; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof”.
What a mighty God we serve, I must serve Him with my whole heart, to Him belongs all glory, majesty and power. Amen!!

  25. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not suffer my foot to be moved: He that keepeth me will not slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is my keeper: the Lord is my shade upon my right hand.
Hey, the sun shall not smite me by day nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve me from ALL evil; He shall preserve my soul.
The Lord shall preserve my going out and my coming in from this time and for evermore. (Psalm 121)
Oh God, I just bless your name and honor you for your mercies endureth forever. Today I put my WMFC family under your wings, friends, brethren, family, co-workers, the Harrison family and Mama Nancy.
You will never leave us nor forsake us, we’ll steadfastly trust in you. Guide us oh Lord and teach us your truth. Write your words upon our hearts that we may walk in your footsteps.
Remember the brethren in Jamaica at Cross Roads church and Post Roads Church. Cover them under your wings.
May your saving grace and your abiding love be with us all today and always. Amen!!

  44. Reflection for the Day

Just for today, I'll not be afraid of anything. If my mind is clouded with nameless fears, I'll track them down and expose their unreality. I'll remind myself that God is in charge of me and my life, and that all I have to do is accept God's protection and guidance. What happened yesterday need not trouble me today. With God all things are possible.

  51. Today I spoke with my old high school chum Sandra. We had the most wonderful time chatting about old times and reflecting on how good God has been to us. The hard times of growing up in the 70's with very little instructions on how to plan for our future and the many mistakes we made. It is very clear now that if it wasn't for God's grace we'd be so lost. We vowed that we'd make sure we help our children to be more aware of the many areas to enhance their abilities to better educate themselves, to be more confident in who they are, to be strong and never give up, but most of all, trust in God at all times. I am looking forward to us meeting again soon....Nice chatting with you sandy!!!

When all around me is chaos and absolute confusion, I just simply trust in Him. He never fails me yet. I will serve Him no matter what the circumstances are.

  58. Friend, when you go through things that you don’t understand, it is not the end. Nothing is lost in the kingdom. God is going to appoint another seed, and that seed represents the future. It indicates what is coming. If you will let go of what didn’t work out, let go of the hurts and pains, then for everything you’ve lost, God will appoint another seed. You’ll give birth to more in the future than you lost in the past. Keep praying, keep believing, keep hoping because God is for you. Trust Him and embrace the good things He has in store for your future!

There is hope, strength and faith in God.That is why Jesus said for us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done here as it is in heaven", because those of us in Christ is walking in that kingdom place. We must realize that we must prepare ourselves for the birth of the new and powerful thing that God is doing in and through us. Get ready!!!! This word is timely and so powerful.

  60. Are you enjoying God? As you live and move and have your being in Him, is there a smile on your face and a skip in your step? Do you expect the rich adventurous faith-filled life that you read about in the Bible? Do you expect to experience God’s glory today? If not, perhaps you need to raise your expectations of what your relationship with Jesus can be....Once we’ve tasted the sweetness of His fruit, to settle for anything less than the bountiful orchard of His blessings will always disappoint. Oh yes, there are heavy-laden branches filled with low hanging fruit just waiting to be picked. If only we would reach up high enough, raise our expectations, and pluck them from the tree. Today, make it your goal to enjoy God! Be thankful. Sing praise! Notice His love notes in the sky, the morning breeze, the face of a flower upturned. Have joy filled day!!

  62. In the past three months life has brought many trials my way. One health problem after another. Family member in a health crisis. new and unfamiliar challenges. Each need piles on top of the other weighing heavy on my hearts because i can't fix them, or make them go away. I didn't see these things coming, and at times i'm not sure what to do. During this difficult season, I have learned to trust God in the flooding rain. And I have discovered that storms don't alarm Him. In these times when I don't know when things will be easier, He's been our anchor, holding fast until the skies clear. Maybe it would be nice to live a sheltered life with just the right amount of rain, and just the right amount of sun, protected by a gentle sloping roof. Sounds good, doesn't it? But James 1:2-3 encourages us to count it a joy when we face trials. Because we grow. As we come toward what we hope is the end of our hard season, we have discovered what it means to trust God and find Him faithful. I have learned what it means to hold my hands, cupped open, to receive nourishment from on high. Trials will come. But when they pass, if we have held tight to God, we'll find we have grown, deeply rooted in faith, stronger than before. And when things get really tough, let's remind each other that on the other side of this trial are beautiful buds of endurance that bloomed under His faithful care.

    Blessings,
    Camal Chambers

  64. What a week I have experienced...All I can say is: Praise precedes victory! We can see a graphic example of that in 2 Chronicles 20. There the Bible tells us that a multitude of forces were marching against Israel. The army of Israel was so outnumbered, they literally didn't know what to do. So they fasted and prayed until they received a word from God. "Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours but God's."

  65. I know people who feel like they’ve wasted years of their lives because of poor choices. They spent years in a relationship that was toxic, years with an addiction, years at a job where they weren’t fulfilled. But you have to realize, nothing you have been through is ever wasted. Your past experiences, good and bad have deposited something on the inside of you. Those challenges have sharpened you to help make you who you are today. When the enemy brings hardship into your life, God has a way of taking that experience and turning it around for your advantage. You may think you’ve hit a dead end, but if you’ll stay in faith, you will see God begin to open up a new route. He’ll put the right people in your path, the right opportunities, the right circumstances to move you forward toward your God-given destiny. Today, don’t focus on what’s happened in your past, focus on what God will do in your future. He wants to restore your soul and revive your dreams. Keep believing, keep expecting, keep hoping because God has a new route for your future!

  66. The Bible talks of how King David was feeling depressed but he resisted it. He didn't sink into it or get into the pit of despair. He described how he felt, but he made a decision not to live by his feelings. He praised and trusted in God. Most of us go through emotionally difficult times when tragic loss occurs. Those who are walking in faith come out of it, and they come out of it better than when they went in. If you are hurting right now due to a loss in your life, I want to tell you that a new beginning is in front of you. Trust and praise God like David did. What Satan intends for your harm, God can turn around for your good! Just TRUST GOD AND STEP ASIDE!!!

  67. Have you ever had one of those days when it seemed like everything you did was wrong? Paul, the Apostle, wrote Philippians 4:13 scripture while sitting in a prison cell. If anyone deserved to feel defeated and discouraged in life, it should have been the Apostle Paul. However, he learned the importance of keeping things in perspective and learning to completely rely upon God’s strength regardless of the circumstances. As we strive to make a difference with our lives there will always be people, situations and circumstances that can zap us from our spiritual strength and energy. In fact, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all of life’s challenges and hardships. However, the same spiritual strength the Apostle Paul experienced in his life is available to us. Where does this strength come from? The answer, “through Christ.” It is in Christ that we find the strength we need to do “everything” we need to get done in life. Fix your thoughts on Christ today and move forward with confidence that “through Christ” you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
